Equipment Leasing News: European Markets Shaken As S and P Downgrades U.S. Debt

VANCOUVER, BC (August 8, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports The European markets are notably lower in afternoon trading Monday, as markets across the globe fell in response to Standard and Poor’s downgrading of the U.S. credit rating. The ratings agency cut U.S. sovereign credit rating by one notch to ‘AA+’ from ‘AAA’ with a negative outlook, taking into account the political risks and increasing debt-burden. Crude is falling, while safe-haven gold is gaining strength.

Meanwhile, the European Central Bank said it would implement its securities markets program, primarily aimed at purchasing Italian and Spanish bonds in a bid to bring down the mounting yields on these bonds. The group of seven industrial powers also have pledged coordinated action to ensure liquidity and to support financial market functioning.

Outside the main index, Hannover Re is dropping 4.1 percent. The reinsurer said its first-half profit declined due to major losses in the first quarter, but maintained its full-year earnings target.

Technip is declining 7.2 percent and Total is sliding 1.2 percent. Airbus maker EADS is falling 6.2 percent.

Lenders Natixis, Societe Generale and Credit Agricole are losing between 4.3 percent and 1.2 percent.

Miner Rio Tinto is falling 3.1 percent. The miner and Japanese trading firm Mitsubishi Corp. made a joint offer to acquire the remaining shares of Australia-based Coal & Allied Industries Ltd. that they do not already own for A$122 per share in cash.

Anglo American and Antofagasta are losing 3.4 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively. BHP Billiton is down 2.3 percent.

Fresnillo is rising 4 percent and Randgold Resources is adding 3.9 percent, as precious metal prices surged.

Lloyds Banking is adding 4.8 percent. Royal Bank of Scotland is gaining 2.8 percent.

In economic news, Eurozone investor confidence deteriorated notably in August after improving in July. The sentix investor sentiment index, an indicator of confidence around 900 investors, fell to minus 13.5 from 5.3 points in July. Economists had expected the index to fall to just 4 points.

Meanwhile, Switzerland’s unemployment rate remained stable in July, data from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs showed. The seasonally adjusted jobless rate came in at 3 percent, in line with expectations and unchanged from June.

Across Asia/Pacific, major markets closed notably lower. Australia’s All Ordinaries lost 2.71 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite Index retreated 3.8 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 2.17 percent and Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped 2.18 percent.

Equipment Leasing News: Equipment Leasing Program pays for equipment through energy savings

VANCOUVER, BC (August 8, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports Prudhoe-based Quantum Controls has launched a programme August 8, 2011 that allows users to install energy-saving drives and motors with no upfront hardware costs, and to structure their payments so that they are always less than the energy savings.

The Lease and Save scheme applies to equipment such as variable speed drives, motors, soft-starts, switchgear and transformers. It offers fixed leasing prices for up to three years, which are covered by the energy savings. After the three-year period, new equipment can be installed.

Quantum gives the example of a 75kW fixed-speed fan running around the clock, six days a week. At present, this would consume around 8,760kWh a week at a cost of around £790. By installing a VSD, the consumption would drop by around 3,066kWh, saving £280. The cost of leasing the drive would be £140 per week (or £7,280 annually) – an amount equivalent to the savings generated. In addition, the installation would reduce CO2 emissions by 1,724kg.

Equipment Leasing News: FLY Leasing Limited (NYSE: FLY) Q2 Results

VANCOUVER, BC (August 5, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports FLY Leasing Limited (NYSE: FLY) (“FLY”), a global lessor of modern, fuel-efficient commercial jet aircraft, announced August 4, 2011 its financial results for the second quarter of 2011.

Second Quarter 2011 Highlights

Entered into an agreement to purchase $1.4 billion portfolio of 49 aircraft
Adjusted net income of $5.5 million, EPS of $0.21, excluding share-based compensation
Net income of $4.1 million, EPS of $0.16
Available Cash Flow of $30.8 million, $1.19 per share
Unrestricted cash of $187.5 million at June 30th
Initiated a new $30 million share repurchase program
Declared 15th consecutive quarterly dividend on July 15th

“FLY has grown its unrestricted cash balance to $188 million at the end of the second quarter, which will allow the company to complete the acquisition of 49 aircraft, which was announced separately, out of its cash balance,” said Colm Barrington, CEO of FLY Leasing. “We are providing strong value for shareholders by utilizing a portion of our unrestricted cash balance and assuming existing debt previously on the aircraft to be acquired, to complete a transformational acquisition for the company, growing our portfolio by 80 percent to 109 aircraft. Please see our separate announcement for full details.”

“In connection with the acquisition, we expensed $1.6 million ($0.06 per share) in respect of due diligence and structuring expenses,” said Barrington.

“FLY declared a dividend of $0.20 per share for the second quarter, which will be paid on August 19th to shareholders of record on July 29th,” said Barrington. “This is our 15th consecutive quarterly dividend. FLY remains strongly committed to its policy of returning capital to shareholders in the form of a quarterly cash dividend.”

“We remain optimistic about the continuing and increasing strength of the aircraft leasing industry, which is reinforced by recent significant orders for new aircraft from airlines in both Asia and North America. We will continue to opportunistically pursue attractive one-off and portfolio acquisitions,” concluded Barrington.

Second Quarter Financial Results

FLY’s net income and basic and diluted earnings per share for the second quarter of 2011 were $4.1 million and $0.16 per share compared to $13.2 million and $0.46 per share in the same period of 2010. The decrease in net income is primarily due to a reduction in end of lease revenue recognized during the second quarter of 2011 compared to the same period in the previous year and costs incurred in the second quarter of 2011 related to the portfolio acquisition that was separately announced and readying aircraft for delivery to their new lessees during the quarter.

Net income and diluted earnings per share for the six months ended June 30, 2011 were $6.9 million and $0.26 per share compared to $29.8 million and $1.01 per share in the same period in 2010. The 2010 results benefited from a gain of $12.5 million from the sale of an option to purchase our notes payable. The 2011 results were impacted by a reduction in the recognition of end of lease revenue and the expenses recorded in the second quarter of 2011 associated with the portfolio acquisition announced earlier and preparing aircraft for delivery to their new lessees. SG&A expense for 2010 includes $2.2 million of expenses associated with our separation from Babcock & Brown.

Available Cash Flow

Available Cash Flow (“ACF”), which FLY defines as net income plus depreciation, lease incentive amortization, amortization of debt issue costs, non-cash equity based compensation, the deferred tax provision and other one-time, non-cash items, was $30.8 million for the second quarter of 2011 compared to $42.5 million for the same period in the previous year. The decrease is primarily due to the decline in net income. ACF per share was $1.19 for the second quarter of 2011 compared to $1.47 in the same period of 2010.

For the six months ended June 30, 2011, ACF was $59.0 million or $2.26 per share. This compares to $87.5 million or $2.95 per share for the same period of 2010.

ACF should be used as a supplement to and not as a substitute for financial measures determined in accordance with Accounting Principles Generally Accepted in the United States.

Dividends and Share Repurchases

On July 15, 2011, FLY declared a dividend of $0.20 per share in respect of the second quarter of 2011. This dividend will be paid on August 19, 2011 to shareholders of record on July 29, 2011.

In May 2011, FLY initiated a $30 million, one year share repurchase program. Under this program, FLY may make share repurchases from time to time in the open market or in privately negotiated transactions. The timing of repurchases under the program will depend upon a variety of factors, including market conditions, and the program may be suspended or discontinued at any time. No shares were purchased under this program during the 2nd quarter of 2011. At June 30, 2011, there are 25.6 million shares outstanding.

Financial Position

At June 30, 2011, FLY’s total assets were $2.0 billion, including flight equipment with a net book value of $1.6 billion. Restricted and unrestricted cash at June 30, 2011 totaled $344.1 million, of which $187.5 million was unrestricted. These amounts compare to total cash of $329.0 million and unrestricted cash of $164.1 million at December 31, 2010.

Aircraft Portfolio

At June 30, 2011 FLY’s aircraft were on lease to 34 lessees in 22 countries. All aircraft are on lease. The table below shows the aircraft in FLY’s portfolio on June 30, 2011 and December 31, 2010. The table does not include the four B767 aircraft owned by the joint venture in which FLY has a 57% interest or the 49 aircraft in the portfolio to be acquired.

Equipment Leasing News: Hertz (NYSE:HTZ) to Acquire Donlen Corporation in $930 Million Transaction

Equipment Leasing News: Hertz (NYSE:HTZ) to Acquire Donlen Corporation in $930 Million Transaction

VANCOUVER, BC (July 18, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports Hertz Global Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:HTZ) and Donlen Corporation announced July 17, 2011 they have signed a definitive agreement for Hertz to acquire Donlen, a leading provider of fleet leasing and management services. The transaction has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies, and by the stockholders of Donlen. The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2011, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

Mark P. Frissora, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hertz, said, “The acquisition of Donlen expands our portfolio of transportation solutions by giving Hertz an immediate leadership position in long-term car, truck and equipment leasing and fleet management for corporate customers who need scale and sophisticated fleet management services. This range of solutions from a single provider will make Hertz unique among its peers.” Frissora added, “The integration of Donlen gives Hertz a yearly and multi-year offering that complements our hourly, daily and monthly car sharing and car rental options for customers, giving us a more stable revenue stream and new adjacent markets to leverage our existing business model.”

The acquisition of Donlen is consistent with the evolution of Hertz’s asset-light, technology focused business model. Donlen is primarily a vehicle financing and fleet management consulting business which deploys leading technology applications to support its customers.

Additionally, this transaction is part of the Company’s overall growth strategy to provide the most flexible transportation programs for corporate and general consumers. Donlen’s technology platform is best-in-class and scalable to enable rapid volume expansion. Together with Donlen’s existing relationships, Hertz will now be able to significantly expand its fleet management capability to Europe and other international markets. Additionally, the Donlen acquisition provides Hertz with a strategic consulting practice in asset and fleet management with an industry leading reputation for its GreenDriver(R) telematics initiative such as DriverPoint(TM), which tracks and measures driver behavior and productivity.

“We’re thrilled to be part of the Hertz global family,” said Gary Rappeport, Donlen Chief Executive Officer. “There are a number of synergies between the two businesses that will allow us to expand and accelerate Donlen’s offerings and continue our passionate focus on customer service and technology. Together, Hertz and Donlen have a unique opportunity to explore and create new and innovative products to bring to market.”

Based in Northbrook, Illinois, Donlen leases and manages more than 144,000 vehicles across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Donlen has posted consistent growth in pre-tax income since 2000, including 2008 and 2009 in the midst of the recession.

Donlen generates revenue through its high-quality, diversified lease portfolio and its fee-based fleet management and services business, which have produced consistent results throughout its history, including recessionary periods. Donlen further differentiates itself from traditional leasing companies by providing services throughout the leasing life-cycle and a variety of management and maintenance services. Donlen has distinguished itself as a technology leader in the industry, through FleetWeb(R), Donlen’s award-winning online fleet management platform that provides enhanced customer service capabilities, and CARE(TM), Donlen’s proprietary CRM system; as well as Donlen’s more than 45 years in fleet management industry experience.

Hertz is purchasing Donlen for $250 million, and will be assuming approximately $680 million of Donlen’s outstanding fleet debt. Hertz expects to refinance Donlen’s debt at improved financing terms. Hertz believes the acquisition will be credit neutral and will strengthen its business profile given Donlen’s business mix and diversified lease portfolio. This transaction is immediately accretive to Hertz’s earnings and is EVA positive in year one. Hertz has identified $20 million of synergies, primarily fleet-related.

Hertz will host a conference call on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM (EDT) to provide more detailed information about the Donlen transaction. Mark Frissora and Gary Rappeport, CEOs of Hertz and Donlen, respectively, will speak during the conference call. Equipment Leasing News: Oil giant ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) to split into 2 companies

Equipment Leasing News: Oil giant ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) to split into 2 companies

VANCOUVER, BC (July 14, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports ConocoPhillips, the nation’s third-largest oil company, said Thursday July 14, 2011 that it will split itself into two separate publicly traded companies and its CEO and Chairman Jim Mulva plans to retire once the transaction is complete.

The breakup would create the largest independent refiner in the world, a prominent analyst said.

Its shares jumped $4.35, or 5.9 percent, to $78.75 in morning trading.

“We have concluded that two independent companies focused on their respective industries will be better positioned to pursue their individually focused business strategies,” Mulva said in a statement.

Conoco said its board has approved separating its refining and marketing and exploration and production businesses by spinning off the refining and marketing segment to shareholders in a tax-free transaction.

Conoco’s refineries produced 2.3 million barrels per day of gasoline, diesel and other petroleum products in the first three months of the year. As a stand-alone business, it will be the largest independent refiner in the world, Oppenheimer & Co. analyst Fadel Gheit said.

“This is so positive for them,” Gheit said. “Everyone should stick to one business.”

Instead of selling the refining assets, a spin-off creates a new business that will attract a different class of investors that will be better suited for the ups and downs that come with refining crude, Gheit said.

Refineries, which must buy oil to make gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, routinely struggle to pass on high crude costs to consumers. The industry was hammered by thin profit margins following record high oil prices in 2008, and many companies were forced to idle or sell underperforming refineries.

Conoco has said for the past few years that it plans to scale back its refining business, but until now it had balked at a spin off. Gheit said that company officials likely changed their mind after noticing how much a refinery spinoff was benefiting their Houston neighbor, Marathon Oil. Marathon’s stock jumped 30 percent after it announced the split in January.

On July 1, Marathon Petroleum Corp., the refining company, began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the “MPC” ticker symbol. Marathon Oil Corp. kept its ticker symbol of “MRO.”

The Conoco split, which is expected to be completed during the first half of next year, will leave Conoco as an exploration and production company.

Mulva, 64, will lead the separation efforts, but plans to retire once the split is complete.

Conoco said its separation plans do not require a shareholder vote. It expects to provide further details on the transaction “as they are determined over the next several months.”

The Houston-based company has about 29,600 employees. Conoco had $160 billion of assets and $226 billion of annualized revenue as of March 31.

Research In Motion Limited (RIM)(TSX:RIM)(NASDAQ:RIMM) leaders acknowledge woes but sound defiant note at AGM

VANCOUVER, BC (July 14, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports Research In Motion co-chief executives Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis sounded a somewhat apologetic note in front of shareholders Tuesday July 12, acknowledging a number of recent troubles that have attracted criticism and depressed its stock value.

But the heads of the BlackBerry maker defiantly insisted they’ve got a new slate of smartphones ready to hit the market — RIM’s biggest product launch ever — that will secure the company’s future success. And far from facing an anticipated outpouring of shareholder bile, their comments were received warmly at the company’s annual meeting.

Lazaridis said RIM plans to launch seven new BlackBerry smartphones running a new operating system in the coming months that is expected to help the new BlackBerry Bold jump a generation in technology.

“It may have delayed us, but we are going to come out ahead,” Lazaridis said of the company’s decision to hold the rollout of the new Bold in order to bolster it to face an “arm’s race” brewing among its smartphone competitors.

Shareholders eager to hear the company’s plans filled some 200 seats, leaving many standing in the crowded room and some spilling out of the doors.

Despite a recent spate of criticism and a serious drop in its stock price, Balsillie and Lazaridis were welcomed with applause from what appeared to be a mostly partisan crowd at the meeting held in the barrel-filled headquarters of the RIM-sponsored Centre for International Governance Innovation, a historic converted Seagram distillery in downtown Waterloo.

Balsillie said the new smartphones are expected to help the company stay on track to meet its financial guidance for the year.

“Mike and I, along with the executive team, are closely managing this transition and have positioned the company for continued future success,” Balsillie told shareholders.

Some at the meeting were critical of the company’s marketing efforts in the face of rivals like Apple — including one shareholder who brought pictures of the RIM’s PlayBook tablet display at a Best Buy store that he said fell short of the rival offerings.

“We will continue investing in it and it’s only a matter of time — we will do better,” Lazaridis said.

He said the company is continuing to build on RIM’s reputation for security when it comes to email and added that trials of its PlayBook tablet were under way at more than 1,500 companies.

“This includes multiple government agencies and groups from both the public and private sectors,” he said, adding that those testing the device are always finding new ways to use it.

In a vote of confidence, shareholders re-elected the RIM (TSX:RIM) slate of directors, including lead director John Richardson. U.S.-based proxy advisory firm Glass Lewis had recommended that shareholders withhold their support for Richardson.

The meeting was held as the company’s management and lacklustre stock market performance faces scrutiny by many investors and analysts.

Investor confidence was particularly shaken when RIM cut its full-year financial guidance last month and announced it was planning to lay off staff.

In its outlook for its 2012 financial year RIM expects to earn between $5.25 and $6 per diluted share, excluding any one-time charges or share repurchases. That compared with earlier guidance for a profit of about $7.50 per share.

RIM stock, which closed up 32 cents at $27.52 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Tuesday, has been on a steep downward slide in recent months and trades for a fraction of its all-time high of more than $140.

The drop has prompted takeover rumours about the company, which were addressed at the meeting Tuesday by a shareholder who asked about a shareholder rights plan to block a hostile bid.

Balsillie said a rights plan could be put in place in a “blink of an eye” if a hostile offer was made for the company.

“I assure you, if there is anything that will make you sleep better at night that I can do, I’ll do it,” he told the shareholder.

The BlackBerry maker’s management structure has also come under criticism as Balsillie and Lazaridis currently serve as both co-CEOs and co-chairmen of the company.

RIM avoided a shareholder vote on a plan to split the roles of CEO and chairman before the meeting when it reached a deal with Northwest & Ethical Investments LP to establish an independent committee to review the role of the chairman.

Northern Securities analyst Sameet Kanade said setting up a committee just prolongs the need to split up the roles.

“We don’t think it bodes well for the stock in the short to medium term,” Kanade said from Toronto.

“It looks nice on paper, but it doesn’t really solve the more pressing concerns of who is looking out for shareholder concerns on the board and who is looking out to make sure the CEO or the co-CEOs are taking the right and decisive actions.”

Kanade said he believes Lazaridis should be the CEO with Balsillie as the chief marketing officer or filling other roles.

“Accountability would be more direct with one person running it. There’s no one looking out for the shareholders’ interests on the board.”

Equipment Leasing News; Equipment Lease Finance Activity Shows Overall New Business Volume Grew In 2010 according to ELFA Survey

VANCOUVER, BC (July 13, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports Following declines in new business volume in 2008 and 2009, the equipment finance industry began to regain volume in 2010, according to the 2011 Survey of Equipment Finance Activity (SEFA) released today by the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association. The survey reported July 13, 2011 an overall 3.9% increase in volume in 2010, compared to a significant 30.3% decline reported in 2009 and a 2.2% decline reported in 2008. The SEFA, which is based on responses from 108 ELFA member companies, covers key statistical, financial and operations information for the $521 billion equipment finance industry.

“Through 2010, the equipment finance industry showed gradual but steady growth,” said William G. Sutton, ELFA President and CEO. “Although uncertainty about the broader economy continues, more recent data collected in the first two quarters of 2011 suggests the trend toward an improved equipment finance industry is continuing.”

Survey Highlights Key findings for 2010 as reported in the 2011 SEFA include:

New business volume varied by respondent. Although total new business volume increased by a moderate 3.9%, just under half of the survey respondents experienced an increase in volume between 2009 and 2010.

By market segment: All market segments showed growth in volume, except for the small-ticket segment, which saw a contraction in volume.

By organization type: Captive equipment finance organizations saw the strongest increase in new business volume (11.3%). Independents saw their volume grow by 5.2%, reversing their significant 46.3% decrease in volume reported in the 2010 SEFA. Banks saw a slight decline (0.9%) in volume.

From an asset perspective, agriculture, trucks and trailers, and medical imaging/ electronic devices saw increases in new business volume, while construction, energy and printing saw decreases. The categories with the biggest increases in new business volume were state and local government; mining/oil and gas extraction; federal government; agriculture, forestry and fishing; and arts/entertainment/recreation.

Pre-tax income and net income regained healthy margins. Though revenues decreased slightly in dollar terms by 0.5%, pre-tax income reached 29.2% of adjusted revenue and net income was 21% of adjusted revenues, levels last seen in 2007 and 2006.

ROA and ROE were up. Financial measures such as return on average assets (ROA) returned to levels last seen in 2006, while return on average equity (ROE) showed a robust leap to 22.1%. Note that the average ROE reported by the survey between 2001 and 2009 never rose above 15%.

Total headcount decreased moderately, by 3.3%.

Delinquencies and full-year losses (charge-offs) declined, following overall economic trends hinting of economic recovery.

There were continued signs of improved business conditions. In 2010, cost of funds continued to drop for the third year, and though pre-tax spreads declined in 2010 compared to 2009, they were stronger than spreads were between 2005 and 2008. While overall headcount decreased, employment did grow in the business development, credit approval and syndication areas, while positions in the account services area declined. Efforts in asset remarketing are also a focus, with sharp increases in staffing levels.

Equipment Leasing News; US Major averages have seen some further upside, reaching new highs for the session July 13, 2011

Equipment Leasing News; US Major averages have seen some further upside, reaching new highs for the session July 13, 2011

VANCOUVER, BC (July 13, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports Stocks showed a notable move to the upside at the start of trading on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 rebounding after moving mostly lower over the course of the three previous sessions. The major averages have all moved higher but remain well off the highs set last Thursday.

In the past few minutes, the major averages have seen some further upside, reaching new highs for the young session. The Dow is up 86.81 points or 0.7 percent at 12,633.69, the Nasdaq is up 25.01 points or 0.9 percent at 2,806.92 and the S&P 500 is up 8.62 points or 0.7 percent at 1,322.26.

The early strength in the markets is partly due to better than expected Chinese GDP data, which offset some of the recent concerns about the global economic outlook.

While Chinese GDP growth slowed to 9.5 percent in the second quarter from 9.7 percent in the first quarter, the pace of growth still exceeded economist estimates for a 9.3 percent increase.

In U.S. economic news, the Labor Department released a report showing that U.S. import prices fell by 0.5 percent in June, reflecting the first drop in import prices in a year.

The drop in import prices was largely due to a 1.6 percent decrease in prices for fuel imports, which fell for the second consecutive month.

At the same time, the report showed that U.S. export prices edged up by 0.1 percent in June amid a 0.7 percent increase in prices for agricultural exports.

Trading could also be impacted by remarks from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, who is scheduled to testify before the House Financial Services Committee beginning at about 10 am ET.

Gold stocks are posting particularly strong gains in early trading, benefiting from a continued increase by the price of the precious metal. The NYSE Arca Gold Bugs Index is up by 2.4 percent, as gold for August delivery is up $15.10 at $1,577.40 an ounce after reaching a record high of $1,581.40 an ounce.

Electronic storage, health insurance, and oil service stocks are also seeing considerable strength, with the strength among oil service stocks coming despite a decrease by the price of crude oil. Most of the other major sectors are showing more modest upward moves.

In overseas trading, stock markets across the Asia-Pacific region moved mostly higher on Wednesday, partly offsetting the losses seen in the two previous sessions. Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index rose by 0.4 percent, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index surged up by 1.2 percent.

Meanwhile, the major European markets are turning in a mixed performance on the day. The German DAX Index is up by 0.6 percent, while the U.K.’s FTSE 100 Index is nearly flat and the French CAC 40 Index is down by 0.2 percent.

In the bond market, treasuries are seeing modest weakness but have bounced well off their lows for the session. Subsequently, the yield on the benchmark ten-year note, which moves opposite of its price, is up by less than a basis point at 2.915 percent after reaching a high of 2.937 percent.

VANCOUVER, BC (July 12, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports Heavy Equipment manufacturer, Deere & Company (NYSE:DE) Agricultural Construction and Forestry Equipment Leasing Profit From Increasing Agriculture Demand July 12, 2011.

Deere & Company (NYSE:DE), the maker of agricultural, construction, and forestry equipment, is positioned to be a steady grower heading into the future through at least 2020. Its bold green and yellow colored tractors, mowers, backhoes, etc. will be in continued demand as the world recovers from the financial crisis and returns to steady growth.

According to the USDA, global economic growth is expected rise at a 3.4% average growth rate through 2020. This economic growth supports continued long term demand in the world’s food, global agriculture trade, and U.S. agriculture exports. As income growth rises in developing countries, a rise in food consumption and feed use will continue.

The populations of developing countries are dominated by younger people, as compared to more developed countries. This younger population increasingly consumes more food of diverse types, contributing to increased agricultural demand. Deere’s diverse array of equipment will continue to be in demand to maintain this international growth.

Furthermore, the value of the dollar is expected to fall over the next decade, leading to increased U.S. exports. Deere will benefit from this as its equipment remains priced attractively in dollars compared to other currencies.

Deere is currently trading at $85, well below its 52 week high of $99. With its 5-year PEG ratio at 1.23, and the stock price trading at 4.8 times book value per share, I feel that the stock is attractively priced in the $80 – $85 range. Deere is projected to grow earnings at 10.8% for the next five years, and DE’s dividend currently yields 1.9%.

Since stock market gains are directly related to gains in earnings, investors in DE should experience total gains of 12.7% per year. By 2020, expect the stock price to be in the upper range of $200 – $250; this would be a total of 135% – 194% gain for the nine year period.

DLC Clearlease Reports; Canadian Housing market at near term peak and likely to slow in the next six months

VANCOUVER, BC (July 7, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports Canada’s housing market has hit a peak and will likely slow in the next six months, one of Canada’s largest real estate companies said July 7, 2011.

“The market has seen its near-term peak in house price appreciation,” Royal LePage said in a forecast released Thursday. “A slower second half of the year is expected.”

The realtor group says home prices by the end of 2011 will be 7.7 per cent higher than they were at the end of 2010, on average.

High house prices are concealing early signs of a moderating market, the report said.

The national average price of a detached bungalow has gained 7.5 per cent in the last 12 months to $356,625.

Meanwhile, the price of a standard two-storey home rose 6.1 per cent to $390,163 and the price of a standard condominium rose 3.5 per cent to $238,064.

“In many of Canada’s regional markets, we saw house prices appreciate at a significantly faster rate than wages and salaries, and this trend cannot continue indefinitely,” Royal LePage CEO Phil Soper said.

There are wide regional variances within those numbers. The Canadian Real Estate Association has noted repeatedly in recent months that the national average price is being skewed higher by a red-hot Vancouver market, for example.

The Vancouver market continues its rally, Royal LePage says, with the average price of detached bungalows and standard two-storey homes both over $1 million and seeing double digit year-over-year gains.

It is interesting to note, however, that the average price for a standard Vancouver condominium saw a very modest increase of 2.5 per cent over the past year.

Most regions are still seeing strong gains, but home prices in Calgary declined modestly as the market continues to adjust following the Alberta housing boom experienced in the middle of the previous decade, the report noted.

The Atlantic provinces are still seeing gains, although smaller than the ones seen in recent quarters. And additional inventory coming on to the market in the Montreal area has provided home buyers with more choice and opportunities for negotiation, the report said.

The company is predicted flat price gains in the fourth quarter of 2011 as the year-ago period was unusually strong.

The report makes no mention of the current mortgage rate environment. but it’s clear that borrowing costs are set to rise — something that could put pressure on home prices. Earlier this week, a couple of major banks raised their posted five-year fixed mortgage rates by .15 percentage points to 5.54 per cent.

The Bank of Canada is expected to resume raising its key overnight lending rate later this year. That will cause the interest rate for variable mortgages to rise.

Business Leasing: Get a Business Lease from DLC Clearlease.com Equipment Leasing

VANCOUVER, BC (July 6, 2011) Dominion Lending Centres Clearlease Reports About Equipment and Vehicle Leases July 6, 2011

Business leases let you finance the entire purchase price—including up to 20% for soft costs—of business equipment or commercial vehicles.
